The numbers · Where release strategy comes from

106,000 new tracks a day. Uploading is not a release plan.

Luminate counted 106,000 new recordings delivered to streaming services every day in 2025, and 88 per cent of everything on those services took fewer than 1,000 streams all year. Distribution is solved and costs about twenty euros. Being found is the entire job.

Spotify wants the pitch seven days early, and only one song at a time

The rule that costs nothing and is missed most often: pitch at least seven days before release and the song goes into your followers' Release Radar whether or not an editor picks it up.

Apple gives you ten days. Deezer will still take a pitch after release.

Three services, three different deadlines, and one of them is closed to artists entirely unless you go through a label or distributor account.

AI Act transparency is live — what indie musicians should change now

The EU’s Article 50 transparency rules applied on 2 Aug 2026; IFPI also pushed industry labelling. Here’s what independent artists and small teams must do next.

EU Article 50 transparency obligations are in force and the music industry has a voluntary AI labelling scheme; indie teams need to update metadata, distributor workflows and press notes.

What £2,000 actually buys you in a music video

Two directors described their constraints publicly and in detail: a £2,000 guerrilla shoot with seven hours of footage and ten days to cut it, and four scenes from a television drama restaged across South London in a single day. Both are more instructive than any campaign with a hidden budget.
